The lady at Vanacor told me that this is their new design, 2" wider than stock but without the mudflaps. basically they look like L88 flares but they're not as wide - absolutely perfect.
I'll try to take a photo of the flares tonight, I guess I can hold it in place with visegrips and take a photo....
Now the installation: these are just like the mudflap design almost the entire quarter panel. Should I cut the quarter panel all the way to the bonding strips or cut the new panels and only add the new flared section to the old quarter panel (basically like the L-88 flares are installed) ???
If they went all the way to the bonding strips that may be a cleaner line...but fiberglass is forgiving when it comes to patching in a panel or flare. I say do it L88 style.
I'm leaning towards L-88 style because there's nothing wrong with the stock quarter panels and the material is thicker than the aftermarket panels. I think I'm going to cut the flare off the stocker and mold the new flare in place.... just want to see if there are other options
It all depends on how patient you are at bodywork lol
Cutting to the flare means you have to be REALLY good at contouring and radius-ing (I think I made that word up). Using more of the panel means it'll be easier to block, but now you have more surface area to have to sand and level, risking a larger area to have mistakes show later on. What are you better at? I would do the radius myself, that way there's less for me to screw up
I use a bunch of different blocks, but my favorite is a 'durablock', about 1.5 inch diameter, and about 16 or so inches long. Kinda looks like a paper towel tube - it bends and conforms to the radius you're trying to sand, and really is the most useful piece of all, especially on a car with not one really flat panel ANYWHERE LOL.
So they look like this basically,i did alot of sanding and contouring to get them the way i wanted plus added about 1/2 inch or so to them to get 2 1/2 inchs.

They're about as wide but without the mudflap. Mine are tapered all the way - I'll have to take photos tonight

I hate to tell you this but you could have pulled your own fender
lips out 1 1/2 to 2, and most people would not really be able to tell. I was going to do that, but cut the frame instead

These are the Eckler L88 flares. Hope the pics help. Lot of work involved, and a huge mess.
Would do it again, mines a driver so i get a lot of small chips in the rear flare front part
That looks like the Universal rear w/6" spoiler? I was thinking about getting one. I like the 6" spoiler, I wonder if it catches any air, creates any downforce or lessens any drag?
