Alarm relay question
My 70 has the factory alarm. I am replacing the relay but need to know if the relay has to be grounded. I am talking about the relay that is in the storage compartment along with the flasher (for alarm). It seems the old one was attached to the bottom of the storage compartment which is f-glass and not grounded. Any suggestions??

I have a 81, not shure about yours, but I know electronics. The relay needs to be grounded for it to work. Eventhough the screw was going into fiberglass there may be a metal plate underneath the fiberglass. I would put the screw into the fiberglass and take a test light and check for ground. If no ground is found you can always run a wire to the battery ground and see if it works.

The connector should carry the ground wire for the relay coil.
At least that is what I remeber from working on my 72 years ago.

Check it with a Test light. Probe the connector and check for ground. connect the othe end of the test light to 12Volts (Batery positive)

I couldn't find the rlay anywhere, so I contacted Gary Gruhala here on the forum. I bought this car from him. He happened to have one out of another car. He is a good guy to contact for unique parts. Check him out. Goes by Gary Dale here on the forum.
