I am in the process of doing restoration and seek some advice please. I have a '72 BB Vert.
Is the original color of the air cleaner base flat black or semi gloss, enamel or acrylic.
Is the original color of the water pump painted Chevy Orange, if not what color.
Thanking you in advance.
,Usually you can get away with krylon semi falt.Thats what I use.Now what the NCRS guys use more than likely comes out of a spray gun and not a rattle can.As far as the orange goes, and that is correct.Just get a rattle can of hi-temp engine paint at wall mart.It won't look just right at first, but will match after a few heat cycles

now getting the correct shades of these colors is another story
The best $ you can spend is for an NCRS Judging manual. $30 on the NCRS site. It specifies correct finishes and part #s for everything that is judged. It is invaluable when working on your car if it is a correct car or you want it to be correct.
