I am in the process of building a 406 for my C3. The original bellhousing has a crack and I would like to replace it. With the new motor going to have approx. 500hp,550 tork, what is a good housing for strength and safety. I know Keisler has a 621 for sale that is stronger than stock and then Lakewood etc. I have a TKO 500 and wants ine that I have no mods to install it. I am also replacing my clutch with a Mcleod Street twin. Being that a stronger clutch, do you really need a stronger bellhousing? Please reply if you know of one.

McLeod Bellhousing has better tolerances than the lakewoods. Nice product. With 500 HP you will want a steel bellhousing. Bought mine new for $250 shipped with block protector.
Imho, anything above a stock power output you need a blow proof bellhousing. Just too much risk losing your feet if the clutch and/or flywheel comes apart. There have been clutch explosions even with stock engines so I would not take the chance with the power you're pushing. You have your choice of Lakewood or McLeod and some will say the McLeod fits a little better.
I would go with a billet flywheel if your concern is with the thing coming apart. Cast can come apart, billet is milled from a solid piece of metal and I've never heard of billet coming apart. The stock bell housing can take a lot(in good shape) but if your looking for insurance then the Keisler housing sounds good for the stock look. It has stronger metal in it...I think their catch word is titanium?! The steel aftermarket housing isn't even close to the stock look.

We do have the bellhousing available for $199. However, it is not SFI approved nor is it stronger than a Lakewood. We have used Titanium and aluminum mix in the casting for longer life.
