I posted similiar thread in C2 post for Grand Sport replica's. I think the Grand Sports are awsome cars, but the price of the Kits( Mid america wants $32000) and/or a C2 vette to modify puts them out of my $ reach. My 72 that I'm building should be a decent street cruiser, but w/its ZZ4 and 3:55 gears pulling 3200lbs (my best guess) ,its no Cobra hunter. How do you compete w/ 300hp OR MORE pulling ONLY 2200lbs?? The Factory Five Cobra kits start at around $14000. My neighbor has finished his for about $25000 using a lightly modified 5.0 EFI Mustang engine, (guessing 300 hp GROSS rating) Anyone out there got a contender for even CLOSE to that money??

I've run against a couple of Cobra replicas on track days. I've made them work for everything, but ya just can't easily compete given the weight difference. The straights are one thing (horsepower is fine here), but trying to keep up with a much lighter car through the corners is a frustrating experience. Good luck with your endeavour.
This one is and a whole lot more. In fact it was specifically purchased with that sole intent in mind. To run down Cobras
There is a uniqe story behind it`s purpose.
for my sins, I had a big block Cobra for 13 years and can tell ya that they are an experience !!
A wise man does not go out in the rain - or even damp !! When the sun is ouit and you have the hang of how they drive - they take some catching on the public roads.
I now look back ( being a bit older ) on how I drove that thing - without a roll bar or cage - and I kinda cringe and appreciate that I am still alive.
However, being a lunatic - I jet-ski'd my *** off and now snow ski the same way, and it was part of my life I really enjoyed... but only because I am here to talk about it.
thought I'd do some surfing today and ended up on a web site thats only a couple miles from my home. This place builds 2000HP Chevy motors. go to website, it's kinda fun to look at and dream of the possibilities, altho you could buy a couple Cobras and Corvettes for the price of one motor. http://www.stevemorrisracingengines.com
