Default Hose clamp pressure limits.

What's a good rule of thumb for a pressure limit of a hose clamped onto a non-barbed nipple, like a cut hard fuel line? I'm using a cut hard metal fuel line as an example, with some rubber hose slid over it, clamped with a very standard hose clamp. Thanks for the help.

you'd be much better off with the barb... but if in doubt, just use two clamps...

this doesnt answer your question... but too bad. just my $.02

10 to 20 lbs, I wouldn't go any more than that, but it depends on how close the fit is and how slick the tube is.

A good rule of thumb is to tighten the clamp to the point that it has compressed itself into the hose and is even with the hose diameter.

I've used this over the years and never had a problem. Have also read several professional articles suggesting this procedure.

The reason I ask, is because when I do this LT1 intake swap...I will be adding an inline fuel pump back by the tank. It'll be a TPI style pump, with just over 40 PSI of fuel pressure, regulated at the intake. I was wondering how to tap the fuel pump in the line, seeing as how the electric I have now is just held in with hose clamps. But, it's a 5-7 PSI pump.

Several companies including Russell make a compression fitting which will tighten over a round hard line and adapt it to AN fittings. It is a convenient way to transition without doing a 37 degree AN flare.

Russell's site is russellperformance.com. I located these from Earl's. all will put a male end on a hard tube.
#165056 - AN6 to 5/16" tube
#165006 - AN6 to 3/8" tube
#165008 - AN8 to 1/2 " tube

Either Summit or Jeg's (or both) carry the Earl's line.
