Default Cam question

Hi everyone; I'm starting my plans for Spring Mods, hopefully winter mods if my heater holds up, but I have a couple of questions I need expertise on. I have a Stock 1975 L-48 auto and plan on adding True Duals with Turbo Mufflers and would like to change the stock cam, as I've read is just junk. My question is will I gain a lot with just a exhaust and cam change? I plan on upgrading to Vortec Heads in the future but just do'nt have the cash right now. Also is there a cam that will suit my needs now without a head change and after the head change? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I upgraded like that. A cam and then a intake. And on and on. I don`t think my parts were ever matched right. Do the exhaust. Then get a plan and save your money and do it all at once. much cheaper in the long run. I ended up putting in a 383. I would have been way ahead if I would have done that to start with. Also don`t neglect the bottom end. My motor had 50k and after doing the top end it began using a quart every 250 miles.

Thanks for the advise; I really would love to upgrade to a Crate engine but I have so much history with the stock engine I just can't part with it yet. My goals are not that high about 300 RWHP, but I will start considerating the bottom end upgrades as well.

Looks like a perfect all around cam; the car is not my daily driver so this might just work. In the event I'm actually satisfied with the performance after exhaust and cam I just might leave well enough alone. Hell I said that with my Cobra and she dynoed at 460 RWHP and I'm still looking for more!
