I thought I would be hearing horror stories of bad vibration etc. not so though apparently, I think I will swap mine out, what about using the stock OEM tranny mount with the solid motor mounts ?
I don't see any problem with that but I do not think solid all around is right either. I always thought you needed a flexible tranny mount.
I must have the poly mounts in mine. No matter what I do I can't get the engine to move at all without a load on it, and just barely if I load it against the brake. I do feel the a fair amount of vibration, but not enough to be a bother.

Yeah running a rubber or poly transmission mount will help with shifter vibration. I run solid motor mounts and a solid tranny mount and I've never had any problems. I heard a long time ago that you run the risk of cracking the tailshaft of the tranny but I've made well over 50 quarter mile passes with slicks and the big block (I drive my car hard on the street too) with a solid tranny mount and have never had any issues.

I'm of the same philosophy. Solid mounts on all three locations essentially turns the engine/transmission into a giant torsion bar connecting the front 2/3 of the wheelbase. That scares me. We all are familiar with the less than ideal torsional stiffness of C3 frames, and this looks like a potentially expensive way to stiffen up the frame.

Just need solid differential mounts, and a way to link them to the transmission mount point, and the whole shebang would be incredibly stiff.
(Except for the crossmember where I have some very cool custom aluminum bushings, my engine, transmission and differential will all be mounted with poly. Should be a good compromise between stiffness and shock absorption.)
