The Crossfire was used on '84 cars too, so search the C4 Forum too.

Comp cam, RHS heads, Edelbrock Intake, Demon Carb. I have done enough research and spent enough time on phone, talked to several old school mechanics, and read tons of articles to be awarded a PHD in trashing the x-fire.

I'll post up specs later if I remember or PM me to remind me. The heads suck, the cam is like a flippin broom handle. Half of my xfire crap was shot so that's why I choose this route. For $1600 and my labor I am looking at a HP increase of 150 or so. We will dyno and see.

Best to you, please keep us posted and we can compare notes

Pick your goal and build your motor around each component, DO NOT just pick and choose, make an educated decision on your parts.

Already starting-out with 9:1 compression with 76cc heads, so smaller 64cc heads will raise CR to approx 10:1, still low-enough for most pump-gas:
keep the RPMs below 5500 with the OEM bottom-end, and you'll make enough smoke to trash the 700R4, or pitch the Dana-44 if you ever hook it up.

What's the most power the crossfire intake can put out ?
(Assuming that the heads and cam are up to it)

No kidding, what will be the next weakest link?

What brand torq converter are folks using on the c-3, 80 vintage? In the 2000 stall range?

I've done a carb swap and LOVE IT !! The car is an absolute beast now instead of a pony... I've did Edelbrock intake, 670 holley, true duals with magnaflow mufflers, flowtech headers, and 3.73s in the back, and my car is sooo much more entertaining to drive!

I'm considering a new cam for a winter project, what would you guys recomend? Also, at what power level can I expect the 700r4 to give way?

Do not know, but when yours breaks, let me know We can see if yours or mine dies first.

I am going with the comp cam listed below, should perform well, HP and torq, not too extreme, more on the bottom end as cams go, but give a pretty good muscle car lope at low idle. This cam will work with stock heads.

Heres the basics to help improve a crossfire in the above quote. Crossfires are really good systems but supported by low HP OEM parts or pieces. Put some *** in the engine and the crossfire will come to life! There like the crossram from the early Z28 Camaros. They have gotten a bum rap from those who dont realize there potential. A similar mentality will sware that all BB`s overheat or that you need a VC can to make a performance engine run.
