I have the same part on my 81. It's not covered just hanging out there. I'm interested to learn if it has something to do with the delay. That's my best guess.

Mine, too. I noticed that when the ground on this was loose, my tach acted erratically. It's not the delay, though. That relay is in the storage area behind the passenger side seat.
