My '73 has a 90 degree speedometer cable adapter, (Hubbard). I removed it from the cable gear housing on the transmission for cleaning. Months passed and now it's time to reinstall it. I fear I may have lost a small drive shaft that connects the plastic speedo cable drive gear on the transmission to the female fitting on the 90 degree cable adapter. Catalog pictures of these 90 degree cable adapters often show a small, "square" shaft included with the adapter. My guess is that this shaft is for using a 90 degree adapter on a tach drive since the receiving fitting on my 90 degree cable adapter is not "sqaure", it's round with a slot cut into it! Consequently, I'm at a standstill about whether I need to use a drive shaft to connect the transmission cable drive to the 90 degree adapter. If so, are these shafts available from any vendors or do I need to purchase a new cable adapter-shaft assembly?
