upon trying to re-time the engine again prior to driving the car in for exhaust i found that my brand new autolight performance wires had gone bad! only a couple of hours of running time on them. they would not provide a reading with the timing light (light would not stay on) so, i took them back. those wires had 90 deg elbows on each end...is this necessarry? the wires i upgraded to are bosch premium that have 1 90 deg bend and 1 straight end. is this acceptable? would it look right to have the wires coming up out of the dist cap? should i take them back for another set with 2-90's? thanks!
I like the 90* on both ends because I like to tuck the wires up nice and close to the valve covers and route them clean and straight to the distributor. Its a personal preference thing, I always hated the way the stock shielding kits worked, it looks pretty when its all there but what a PITA to deal with
Have you checked out the MSD 8.5 super conductor plug wires? They have the 90 degree bends on both ends come in black or red. No radio interference when installed with out the stock shielding. Best plug wires I have bought.
can you pull the 90 degree caps off the plug wires? When I did mine there is no way I would've been able to fish the front 4 plug wires through the motor mounts with the boots still on.
edit..assuming you're still using the stock shielding that is

I like the Packard replacement wires you can get from any one of the corvette supply houses, and yes you can get them through the moter mounts if you loosen them up and lift the engine slightly, the stock set-up looks good with all the nice chrome covers and they work great, And yes you will need to pull the starter to route the wires on the right side. If it's worth doing, it's worth doing Right.
