68 vent knobs...help

68 vent *****...help
I'm trying to put on new vent ***** on my '68 and they will not stay on. No matter how hard I tighten the nut with an allen wrench they will not stay one. I must be doing something wrong. Any ideas?

I would guess that you didn't loosen them up enough or push them down enough before starting to tighten them up. I am assuming that you are getting torque on the set screws, that is they DO get very hard to tighten further. If not, you may have stripped out the set screw heads or the threads in the vent.
