brake booster filter required?
I'm in the process of hooking up vacuum lines and stuff to the new engine & carb. I broke the little 90* elbow trying to take off a crusty old line that was connected to it. I've never seen these before on other cars. Is this a must or can I run without it? I tried Autozone this morning on my parts run and they didn't seem to know what it was. I might try supergluing the elbow together cause it cracked only halfway through.

It is actually a carbon filter to absorb gas vapors so they don't get into the booster and ruin the diaphragm. Big GM recall for this in the early 70's. I've seen them on eBay from time to time.

why not replace it with a new one. probably need to be replaced anyway.
