I just got my TH400 rebuilt to go with my new motor and I was informed that my converter is toast. Anyway, I'm looking for some advice about which one to go with. My combination is:
'69 vert, 350 +.030, 10.5:1, Edelbrock RPM heads, Comp 282S cam, factory hi-rise intake, Holley 750 VS, headers, 3.36 gear. The car will be mostly street driven though not every day and will see the occasional trip to the strip.
I've looked at a few manufacturers and I think I'm going with JW. I've raced with their stuff before and had good luck. They have two 11" converters that I'm considering. One is listed as 2400-2700 stall and the other is 2800-3000. I can't decide which one would be better for this car. If anyone has any advice or can recommend a different converter I'd be grateful.
You want your stall speed to be below your cruise rpm, to avoid excessive heat from slippage. If its more of a drag car 3000 or more depending on your cam. Mine is primarily a track car with about a 3000 stall (243 in-251ex @.050) and the next time I change it will be 4000 or more. Ron B.
