Three different early hood latches?
John
I can check the '68 AIM tonight.

I have a early build '69 coupe ... the system my car has is a latch on the passenger side with a spring. This spring provides both driver and passenger side tension. The driver side has provision for a spring, but no spring attached. Later years driver side did not have the spring holes provision (this may be late 69-76)
Driver side also has the dogleg (90 degree) which is the part that will catch when the hood release cable is pulled. I cannot speak to a latch without the dogleg - but the dogleg is integral to the operating of this system.
I also have the white sheath with 2 clips in the hood.
The NCRS manual mentions a spring on the passenger side, but no mention for the driver side.
If you have a later '68, this is probably the sytem you should have. An early '68 used a different cable/sheath, and a different numbered latch ... but I don't know what made that different from the later latch.
If you have any pictures of the 3 driver side latches, that may help ... and the date of your car ??
John
Thanks,
John

curious as to what type cable you have to get that left latch to work?
My early '69 L46(Nov 68) has the middle latch, along with the white-sheath cable and multi-hole pin on the driver side. This is the same latch as pictured in the '68 and '69 AIM (UPC 11-13, A7 & A8), and described in the NCRS manual ... I also understand the latch on the right is late '69 and into the 70's, also using the multi-hole pin on a black-sheath cable.
NCRS manual also describes the early '68 as having a "dark spiral-wound metal sheath resembling the hood release sheath". Do you have a picture of your cable ??
this is exactly what my system looks like ...

I uploaded the photo to Photobucket ..

then, copied the IMG code into my post.
after that, I used the "preview post" button to make sure it loads.
If it works, I'll "submit reply" ...
