I have a friend who wants to install headers and new exhuast in his 81

can you run full true duel exhuast, or can in be done only with a y-pipe

any advise on what headers and system to use

Best Regards

I have a set of ceramic block hugger headers and 2.5" true duals on my '81. The headers had to be "massaged" a bit to fit, but there are plenty of headers out there that will fit without modification. The only concern is what your state's emmision inspection requirements are. God bless, Sensei

No problem changing to full dual exhaust. You'll need to install two catalytic converters, one in each pipe to stay legal, if your jurisdiction addresses mods to emission controls and permits such mods. Otherwise, converters not required. Check archives for different exhaust pics.
