Default 383 oilpan

I am about to start assembly of my engine and had decided on going with a 383, but I have seen a few posts about being able to use a stock oil pan. Seems like some people are able to use stock pans and others can't. I am using a 9000 Scat crank with 6" rods. Can anybody give me the straight answer? Thanks in advance.

If your using H beams or large aluminum rods they may hit the pan. If your using standard forged rods you can use the factory pan.

I had planned on using the 6" Scat Pro Com I Beam Rods mainly because it seemed that I would not have to do all of the grinding on the rod bolts. Any advice? Thanks

You should be fine with those. When my assembly was balanced the machine shop clearanced the cam side rod bolts before balancing.

If you use the blue FelPro neoprene gasket, you will probably have to trim the inside edge.

I am using an Eagle stroker kit, with 6" H-beam rods. Moroso's 7-quart stroker pan worked fine for me.

I've got a stock pan with H-beam rods on my 383... no problems.
