I have a 383, stock heads (w/leaking valve seals), Comp Cams 12-211-2, Holley 4150 (PN 0-80145), Hedman headers, MSD 6A and 4 speed with 3.36 rear gear.
My plan is to install a Keisler TKO-500 next year. My fleeting plans have included new heads (what kind ????) and fuel injection. Lately I have been reading about Lars and many others concerning the original quadrajet and it's good points.
I've read many times the manufacturer Rebuilt Qjets are not that good. So I guess that I would need to find an OEM quadrajet and rebuild it or have a professional do it.
My 1973 started out an L-48 before I bought it. How do I determine what quadrajet to buy since my motor is not stock any more? I live in the San Antonio, TX area so I'm sure there are several business establishments that could take care of my needs. I just want to have some knowledge before I go there.
If you dont have a q-jet to rebuild, I have a new (less than 1 hour run time) JET Performance Stage 2 Q-jet. I bought it new this year to use on mildly built 350, but have since sold engine and bought new ZZ4 w/ recommended Speed Demon 650 mechanical sec. carb. The Q-jet cost me $360. If your interested, send me a PM. I'll give you a great deal on it, as I dont need it, and like I said its like brand new. I could use cash towards a new clutch thou.
I'm interested in your carb what are you asking? If you have time give me a call 443-309-4090 I have a friend that lives in Keene that may be able to pick it up for me. Thanks Tripp.
