Default New engine compartment pics...

Got my new headers on, finally got my repop ignition shielding kit from CC, been on B/O for 4 months

And a close up of the Hedman elite headers, thick tubing and flanges, these suckers are really quiet, no header noise through the tubes at all.

I know its not show quality but the engine has not been out of the car since 88'. Just in car detailing and painting. Next year=408" that will look just as stock as this one.

I am not sure why when I use the image link it doesn't post the pics to the board...??? It used to. Is there something else I need to do now to post pics here without having to link to photobucket?

Looks good.

How well do your headers clear the manual shift bar. If you have a 4 speed.

Not sure I follow you?

I used the . That used to work. Something else we do now? When I use the img link above(the little mountain pic) and paste the url in there, it just links the url, not posting the pic.

HMMMM?

Spedalen- the car is an auto. The headers have good clearance everywhere. They are close to the idler arm like all of them are but they fit well and use the ball style collectors, no gaskets needed.

At $260 thick metal, coated and ball flanges seems like more people would buy the elite.

The only thing that sucks about them is that they are only available in 1 5/8" primaries AND they use a funky oval header gasket. They are round tubes but if you notice, right at the flange, the tubes turn kind of oval....they look like this = 0 . They came with the cheesy paper gaskets and we searched all over looking for oval gaskets that would work. Round nor square ports would work. We ended up using a Mr Gasket Ultra seal p/n 5916.They had the oval shape and they sealed really well.

Too bad I won't be able to use these headers when I go 408".

Anyone else have any idea how to post the pics directly without hyperlinking? I am curious how to do it.

[img] [/img] is not working any more to directly post pics.

I just saved your pic and posted it back to my photobucket account. I then copy the img address from the top lline under the pic, go to your post, select the icon that looks like a mountain, and when the window pops up right click and paste the image address in the box.

That's looking really good. I love a freshly detailed engine. I just wish they would stay that way. Are those full length headers? They look like they hug the block really well.

Hey nice job on the engine compartment, looks great!! I know how good it feels to get it finished.

If you get bored this winter, I bought a chrome kit for my alternator that allows you to use the same guts and replace the housing and end caps. New chrome pulley, fan and bearings also. I got new brushes from Autozone while I had it apart for the heck of it.

Copying from photobucket works for me. If you want to practice you can use the Testing section of the Forum. Saves on embarrassment.
Headers look good. Let see some new ETs.

Thanks guys.

I hosted the pics in photobucket, then open the pic in photobucket, open properties then copy the properties, then I here I open the button for imgs(the one with the mountain) and paste the URL into it but instead of the pic popping up, it hyperlinks to photobucket. I will practice in the test section.

Burners, they are full length headers with the ball type flanges that require no gaskets. The headers fit really well. The right side AC bracket required some grinding but it wasn't too hard. Just use good gaskets, not the gaskets that came with the headers, they suck. I used Mr Gasket #5916

Thanks Top gun. Not interested in any chrome other then factory chrome. I am trying to keep this one as original looking as possible aside from the headers.

BK Broiler, I will get this old turd back to the track before the end of winter. I am hoping for some 14.80s out of this old stocker. Last time out it went 15.01 coasting through the traps at 89mph because the fuel pump wasn't keeping up and it was nosing over around 4400rpms in 2nd gear. I got a new 110gph pump on it now and it pulls clean to 5000-5200.

A 2500 stall converter would work miracles for this thing at the track. Its a DOG out of the hole. 2.22 60's. LOL

Thanks Nifty. I try but it is an old dinosaur. Bottom of the motor looks like A$$. LOL Its just a weekend driver really. When I stick the 408" in it, I will detail and paint everything under the hood. Lots of powder coating will happen also.
