Default best headers?

What are the best headers to put on a car, for performance and sound?

these are the best however they are also expensive http://www.stahlheaders.com/Frame%20New%20Drag.htm hooker headers are also pretty good along with hedman, and a few others. if money is tight dont bother with the stahl headers, they may be some of the best but they dont come cheap.

Not sure whats the best, but I can tell you from personal experience that Headman Side exhaust headers are the worst!

I really like the Dynomax Ceramic headers. They fit great and don't cost an arm and a leg.

Really? I've had mine for a few months now and don't have any problems.

The 'O-ring' flange is hard to make seal.
The flanges are very thin.
The headers are hugely unequal in length making engine tuning near impossible.
even the longest tubes are way too short.

But other than that...

The sound from headers is pretty much the same, loud! The design of the exhaust system has more to do with the sound of your car than just the headers. You don't mention your application or intended use of the car to determine if small or large tubes would be the way to go.
A cross pipe helps balance the exhaust system and changes it's tone. Mufflers play a HUGE part in your car's sound. If you are on a budget, Summit brand isn't bad, I believe they are dynomax headers. Most headers will have the option of coming painted or Ceramic coated which adds a few hundred bucks.

what about just port and polish the stock manafold (ram horn), i hear that you can get just as much flow as a good set of headers, is that true?

headman elite should be a durable header for a street car,
coated, 3/8 flange, 14 gauge 1 5/8 tubes, 3 inch dia collector,
with a modern ball flange on the collector. $260

I'm also looking for a good pair of headers. Do any of you that suggested certain headers know if they have the eqaul length tubes. I've had a hard time trying to find some with equal length tubes
