Default alternator number question

I bought this new gm alternator at a swap meet. It has never been bolted on and still has the NF ink stamp on it. I was wondering what the numbers mean. It reads: 1103106 63A 9k8 12vneg. The 63a and 12vneg are self explanatory. What do the others mean? Thanks a lot.

The 1103106 is the alternator number. I don't know what the 9k8 is.

Well, that's what I was thinking, but usually the date code would be just 1 letter for the month and 1 for the year. K would be October for the alt., but what are the 2 other numbers?

9K8 refers to October 8th 1979 as in 1980 they went with a different coding system.
9 is the year-1979
K is the month-October
8 is the day of the month-8th
but the closest number I could find was for a 1980 Covette-1103103 (63 amp)
