Well, I finally got new rims. Due to $$$ considerations plus new tires I already had, went with the American Racing AR-136 in a 15x8 with 3.75 backspacing.
They look really good on the car but the backspace difference moves the tires out just enough so you can see that the driver's rear sticks out a shade more than the passenger's side. Oh well, it's a C-3.
They do fit without spacers but it's good thing the calipers are fixed since clearance is about 3/16 to 1/4 in.
Total price all inclusive was $600 ($115 per rim plus caps, lug nuts, locks, chrome stems, mount, balance, and of course tax).
Here is a pic of the rim and I will post pics of the car as soon as I can take some (after a wash and wax of course).
Are these rims the same that are on 74-Roadsters car? I am sure they look as great on yours as they do on his. Below is the link to his profile and has his signature at the bottom. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zero...ofile&id=16664
It's nice to see good looking 15s for a C3, but I'm a little confused about your statement "They look really good on the car but the backspace difference moves the tires out just enough so you can see that the driver's rear sticks out a shade more than the passenger's side." Why does that happen
Stock backspaing for the Rallys was 4". These are 3.75" . The wheels actually extend 1/4" further out of the wheel well than before.
The front wheels are symmetric but in the back, the driver's side sticks out just a little bit more than the passenger side and it is more noticeable if you know what to look for. No big deal.
I have had an accident in this car and this was the fender my roommate backed into. Just more proof that the car is a driver.
Yeah the're nice!!!! So much for being an original :D :D :D Mine are Eagle Alloys, same style. I've had several e:mails about mine so good things catch on fast. Can't wait to see them under a yellow Vette. Are you going to paint your calipers yellow to match your car? I can't think of a good contrasting color to paint mine.
