I have changed the master cyc and i have no rear brakes still. I have fluid and the brake pads move but they have no pressure. It's on a 77 is this a common problem? I have a proportioning valve on order.
No rears was the problem. I get fluid only no air when i bleed the system. I have put 1 whole quart of fluid through the system so there can't be any air.
I had a similar problem with my 71'. I used Vaccume pumps to suck fluid through. Hoses attached to the caplar nippels going into a jar filled with brake fluid while pumping the brake pedal. Pumping the brake pedal 3 times while a friend realeses the pressure until No air came out of the hose. I can honestley say that I went through 3 quarts of fluid and 3 packs of smokes in frustration. However nogthing worked for me.
The style that finally worked for me was.........taking it to a mechinac.
now it works great.
The mechinac did not replace anything. I think he was better skilled at crushing gremlens than I was.
New master cylinder or rebuilt? Does the pedal still go to the floor or is it somewhat firm? It really does sound like air in the system if the m/c is good. Unusual I think for just the rears not to be working.
Are all the hard line connections tight? I had a problem once where a connection was not and it was sucking in air and had no fluid leak because there was not enough pressure in the line.
I've tryed about everything so far. I have been bleeding the inside and outside bleeders. I took off the proportioning valve and have one coming in today. When i took off the top sensor on the proportioning valve it had this valve that looked to be blocking the back line i was able to reset it with a small screwdriver. I will see if this fixes it after work. I also put plugs in the master cyc and tryed to push the brake and it was solid. the master cyc looks to be ok. It is a new bendix. Will keep you all informed thanks for the help.
Well i changed the proportioning valve ( not it ). rebuilt the rear calipers, I recomend changing them next time. One blew so i replaced them and guess what now i have rear brakes. I still have a problem with the pedal when i start the motor the pedal goes almost all the way to the floor. When the motor is off the pedal is solid. I'm not losing fluid and the brake hoses look good. Any ideas?
