In the process of splicing 2 frame 1/2's together. I have built a jig to keep them solid and square. Question..I have the back 1/2 mounted. At the number 3 body mount it is level side to side. Also when measuring criss cross #2 to #3 both sides it is level. When I put the level on the rear portion just behind #4 mounts, it is off level about 1/16 " side to side. Is this a big deal or can I make that up when I shim the body and tighten body mount cushions?
Thanks
Nice to hear your got the sections together. Sounds like you did a great job with that tolerance. I made a point of keeping the body shims when I took the car apart. I had 1 - 1/16" shim on the left side mounts and 2 - 1/16" shims on the right. I believe those had been in there since the car left to factory, so you should be right on.
Thanks to all for your replies. From the replies it looks like my back 1/2 is ok in the jig. Now to get the front 1/2 mounted in. I'll try and get some pics posted this week. Also a special thanks to Ian who provided much info on how he did his rail repairs. The jig I built has 8 leveling pads and 8 wheel casters. That way when I need to I can lower it off the pads and role it around. ALso due to limited work space, It rolls under my body which is up on a body jig I built. Again, I'll get some pics. this week.
Regards
Joe
