I tried to refit the pulley on the balancer again and then fired it up. No dice and the balancer is definetly wobbling too. My new balancer is coming in Wed. I am also looking for new pulleys too. I suddenly don't like the look of my painted ones anymore. As for as an update on the rest of the car, I got the headlights mounted in there and hooked up all the horns, including the air horns that my Dad had in there. The horn system sounds great.

You should rig it so the lights flash when the horn blares. That would be fun.

There actually might be a way to do that. Aren't the lights supposed to flash with the horn? My Dad had the airhorns and the regular horns hooked up to the alarm as well as the button. But I can't figure it out. Right now there is a yellow wire he bit into and ran up front from the existing orange alarm wire. Problem is I only see it working one way at a time because the horns are grounded and the orange wire is hot all the time. The alarm is a switched ground and the horn is a switched hot.

Just use a five pin relay, that can complete either a hot circuit or a ground circuit.

Default Problem solved!

Got the new balancer the other day and just got done installing it tonight. I also got a nice aluminum water pump pulley while I was at the store. First off let me say that the old balancer WAS the problem and when I finally got it on and started the engine I was a happy camper, but I did find out some saddening news about the nice new aluminum water pump pulley. The guy at the shop said that if I had the short pump that this pulley would fit. He also said there are 2 diff size diameter center holes (5/8 and 3/4) for the long and short pump or mabey just for the corvette, I can't remember, but anyway he said that in a worst case scenario that I could just drill out the hole larger because the four mounting screws would center it straight. Well I had to go to "the Depot" to buy a 3/4 drill bit which cost $21 and I bored out the hole. So I'm fitting the pulley on and when I got it on the Damn belt don't line up! It's not on enough by about a 1/4 inch, enough to see that it's not lining up. So now that I drilled a hole in the new pulley I know there's going to be a problem when I try to bring it back to the store.
"Professional Products" balancer= $92
aluminum water pump pulley = $78
3/4 drill bit = $21
TOTAL = $191
I did use the allen head screws that came with the new pulley so now I guess I have 78 dollar water pump screws. When it's all said and done I am just happy that the wobble was not the effects of a bad crank.
I'll be making another video of the vette this weekend and there might be some wheel spin invloved this time.

Don't tell them when you return it. Keep your mouth closed and they will probably never know the difference. Maybe that's shady, but so was his information.

The pulley came in a clear vacuum plastic wrap on a peice of cardboard and we had this big discussion in the store about the diameter of the center hole. Plus the drilling job is REAL obvious since I don't have a drill press.

Maybe try to sell it in the parts section to someone needing a pulley with that size hole and the longer water pump shaft.
