I recently rebuilt my quadrajet with a simply rebuild kit from Napa. I used the same metering rods and jets that were already in there, though they were far from stock (I don't have the numbers with me at the moment).
The engine is a stock 73 L82 with sidepipes, a performer manifold, and a taller than stock cam (not sure of exact specs).
Having used the exact same rods and jets the car has (when it ran fine except for a bad accelerator pump)...not sure what's going on. It starts, idles and runs fine up to about 2500 or 3000 rpm where there's a huge stumble (I'd have to guess a lean condition). Advice?
The secondary air valve may be sticking. When it pops open it is creating a lean whole in the air/fuel curve. Make sure you didn't tighten the two rear screws too much. This can distorte the air horn casting and bind the air valve.
