My speedometer quit working. I spun the cable with a drill and still nothing. The cable spins freely. I can eliminate a problem in the transmission speedo drive. I could not pull the cable out of the sleeve. Sometimes if the cable breaks, it will pull out. Is there any part on these speedometers that is prone to break? Thanks for the help.

The cable has to come out the top.Did you push the cable in all the way when you used the drill?
I tried pushing and pulling on the cable and it wouldn't move.
No I meant when you were turning it with the drill did you make sure it was in far enough to engage the back of speedo.edit -also to get the cable out you have to remove it from the back of speedo-the cable comes out from that end-it has a ferral on that end.

I usually just reach up and release the cable from the back of the speedo. Then I spin the brass input to the speedo and watch the needle.Sometimes when they break the break is above the ferral. In other words just the 1" flattened end that goes in the back of speedo. The good part of that if that happens is the speedo is still good-the bad part is you usually have to remove the speedo to get the 1" piece out.
