OK, this is absolutely the easiest way (not best but you asked for easiest). I had slop in my drive train causing the dreaded clunk going into gear etc. I removed the drive shaft, the mounting bolt to the diff carrier and changed the top portion of the mount only. Bottom seemed to be in decent shape. Could not see it but could feel rubber all the way around. This did solve my particular problem. That I have read the only way to change the bottom is to drop the diff which I did not want to do. that was also the first thing I did when I got my vette and being a newbie at the time. Good luck!

I dont think you need to completely drop the diff. If you back off the two bolts on the diff carrier leaving a few threads to hold it then pop the carrier down with a large pry bar or 2 jaw puller so it hangs, you should have enough slop to replace the whole front mount. Still, for safetys sake I think I would want to unspring the trailing arms as I would be nervous with that stuff connected.
