Tom;
I ordered a radiator for my big block 67 on the 15th and expect delivery soon, but I forgot to ask about a couple of things. One is if I paint it will it affect the 25% decrease in temp I am looking for. Two is whats the difference betweem original replacement and direct fit which is what I ordered.
Thanks
Jim
That's an oxymoron, like "pretty ugly". The words flow together so well it almost sounds right.
#1 Paint doesn't effect cooling at all, but most people think it does. In case you missed it, we offer a "Blace Ice" coating which is a special two part epoxy paint. When it dries it looks like the part was powder coated. 90% of the paint applied to the radiator is on non-functional areas such as the end tanks and side channels. We only fog the fin area and most of it goes right thru the core. The only exception to the paint rule is dip coating. That would ruin the radiator because the internal fins would hold the paint and it would never come out.
#2 Your BB car came with a copper radiator, that's the ORIGINAL. We do not make a complete copper radiator for a 69-72 BB. We do make a copper core for those people wanting to restore the original radiator and retain the factory details but this is going to cool exactly as the original radiator. The Direct Fit that you bought is an aluminum version of this bb radiator.
I'm bringing this back up to the top because no matter how many times we have this sale it seems we always have people complain they never saw it.
Another reason is to remind you that our dual fan kit is included in this ($50 off) sale. So a rad/fan combo would only be $820 which is about $300 less than the competition.
Yeh... today is January 18th... and I "just saw" it.
Board moves too fast for a sale... needs to be a sticky.
Tom - I just purchased the direct fit for my 71 LT1, I would like to clear coat so the aluminum stays like new, can you recommend a product?Eastwood sells a product called Diamond clearcoat.thanks,Larry
I don't have any experience with that but you might try a product called blingmaster. This is a hand run aluminum polish that is pretty easy another idea is 02 steel wool. Both these items change the look of the natural aluminum so try a spot on the bottom to see if you like it first.
Mine showed up last week - since the body and frame are still separated, it will be some time before I can add any installation pictures. The product looks great!!!
Thanks Tom,
I've already recieved the package from the brown truck, and it is beautiful. Can I buy the paint separate because I asked the question too late to order it that way?
Jim Thanks again that was agreat deal!!!!!
