Looking to get new half shafts and u-joints. Seems that solid joints are stronger, but how often do you have to dis-assemble and re-grease them? Or are they a sealed for life type joint? Currently have 2 1/2 inch daim. shafts thought I would go to 3 inch while I'm spending money, there the same price. Van Steel has a pair of 3 inch w/ solid joints and flanges for $275. Going in 1972 4spd w/ZZ4.
I asked the folks at OC Driveline the same thing. They told me the spicer joints without zerks were better, and basically lubed for the life of the joint.
Since driveshafts is all they do, and they have been around forever, I take their word at face value.

For some reason, a lot of people think that if you can greese a u-joint, it is better. I've never understood this. My '91 Mark VII, which I bought new, came with sealed u-joints, ball joints, and tie rods and none of these parts has ever been replaced. This car now has over 150k miles on it.

You don't want to add grease to them. They are all set when you get them. The 2.5's will work ok too but that is your choice. If you use Spicers then be very careful with the installation so you don't crack the black plastic ring.
