Default Switch on accelerator?
I removed the gas pedal and linkage on my 71 to replace the accelerator cable. I discovered a switch at the top of the pedal linkage that is engaged when you step on the gas. Can anyone tell me what is the purpose of this switch?

Sounds reasonable but I'm not sure. Can anyone confirm this. If it is I don't need it anymore as I installed a 700r4

Yes, That is what it is. If you follow the wire you will see it hooks up to the side of the trans.
