My "new" 74 big block is the cowl induction model. Was this standard or an add on? Is their a significant performance plus with the system? Does this make the car more desirable?
The cowl induction was not an option; it came on all Corvettes from 73 to 75. I don't know if it's a great performance plus or not, but in my opinion is a very neat system, and provides cold air when needed. I really like it!
I had a close look at a cowl induction setup and was surprised to see how little space for the incoming air, there was. But i guess it works huh ? I have an L88 hood with fresh air intake, and im certain the performance has increased, especially now its 50 degrees outside.
Pedro, I finally got my motor timed to 34 degrees full advance. I needed to make a black mark instead of a while one on the balancer. SHe really goes good now. Thanks,
On my 73, I noticed a reduction in power when the engine compartment got hot. I took some foam rubber and plugged the two snorkels. The door in my cowl induction had already been removed by the previous owner. Now, it does not lose power when the engine bay gets hot. It gets plenty of air.
