Default Very Dumb Question

Is the right side of the car the drivers side or the passenger side? I always get confused because the righ side of the car can be either side depending on how your looking at the car. I need to buy parts so I need to know.

Sorry that I'm an idiot.

Think of it this way...where is the passenger seat and where is the driver seat That's the name of that side of the car, doesn't matter how you look at it.

Of all the information I have read, the right side is the passenger side and the left side is the driver side. Any others out there have better information????

The driver side always has a steering wheel on it. That passenger side does not.

Thanks.

Everyone else seems to not understand my question... I know the diffference between the drivers side and passenger side... I'm not that much of an idiot. I was asking when people refer the the left or right side of the car... what side is the left and right side respective to the drivers side and passenger side? Looking at the car from behind, the right side of the car is the passenger side. Looking at the car from the front, the right side of the car is the drivers side. Which is correct?
The poster I am quoting says the right side of the car is the passenger side.

Sorry I wasn't clear in my original post.

LEFT and RIGHT when it comes to the car or engine, always means as related to sitting behind the wheel.
So doesn't matter if the car is LHD or RHD, left and right is always the same.

Here's a little know factoid that can help. Usually (not always) the even numbered GM part is installed on the right side (pass. side) of the car and the odd is on the left.
