Default B&M Hammer shifter install

Here are a few (lousy) pictures fo the Hammer shifter I installed in the '76. I just need to replace the console plate screws with some black allen head screws. Undecided on the shift indicator going in or not. I like the look without it.

Sweet! Did you go through the stock shifter plate hole or had to modify it? Did you get the universal Hammer kit? How hard was it to mount on the tunnel?

It was the universal shifter. Not an install for the faint of heart. I actually cut the tunnel and dropped it about an inch in front and one and a half in back, which is about half of the distance to the transmission, so it's pretty close now. Then boxed around that with metal. So the shifter is low enough for it all to fit below the factory console plate. I bought another plate and cut it up to center the shifter. I was able to use the original shift cable that way as well. I also moved the brake handle back about one and a quarter inches. So with my arm on the "pillow" the handle is right in my hand. I made a top plate out of plexi-glass (more for an easy pattern) and painted the back side before putting it on. Need to have one made in aluminum or something. The plastic looks good now but will probably get scratched up before long. First ratchet shifter I've used, pretty cool. I replaced the U-joints when I had to remove the drive shaft to bolt the shifter on, as well. Don't know that I'd do this install again, just because of cutting the tunnel. But it can all go back to original fairly easy.
