Timing Chain help !

Thanks for the help
Jim
The crank sprocket has the keyway to match the key in the crank. It will only fit in 1 position.
You can match the dots or use the 12 o'clock method.
You can't screw it up.
Since the cam revs at 1/2 crank revolutions, you will find that when the crank dot is at 12 noon the the cam is at 6,
then turn the crank 1 rev to get the crank at 12 noon again and the cam will be at 12 noon also.
It doesn't matter if you turn it clockwise or counterclockwise or whatever, when the crank dot is 12 noon the cam dot can be at 12 or at 6. The realationship of the #1 piston at this stage doesn't matter. It will automatically be correct.
When you install the distributer, is when you worry about the #1 firing position. Just put #1 firing at TDC and all is well automatically.
Turn the crank by hand and watch the dots and it will be easy to see.
BTW
Happy New Year
