OK. So I had to remove the clutch starter switch, on the clutch pedal under the dash, to remove the brake booster nuts to get at, and repair, the vacuum tank. Also removed the steering column and driver's seat in the process. Everything is repaired and I'm trying to reinstall as removed. Good luck getting the switch in!!! No amount of dexterity or patience is going to work here. Anyone with experience at this?? I know it should be reinstalled but, if I have to, can it be by-passed??
Not to be a party pooper but I highly recommend you reinstall it. I've seen too many occasions where someone (kid or otherwise) clicks the key and the car lurches forward or worse. It's woreth it just for piece of mind.
Is it a pain, yes, but not impossible. I ussually pop the seat bolts out and lay on my back under the dash with a decent light. It only goes in one way and then the rod with the e-clip slips right into place. I use a 1/4" small swivel ratchet.
