T 5 Tranny Question
Hi All,
I am new here at the forum but I have a question that I am sure probally has been answered on here at some time.
I have 79 vette and a t5 out of a camaro or somthing. I have crossmebber and peddel box, basically most things for the conversion
but will everything bolt right up short of have the drive shaft modified.
350 / 305 bell hsng should be the same yes?
I have two clutch set up hyd and mech which should I use.
anyone have a link on someon that has done it

I did the T5 swap in my 79 from a 350 auto but I used a mustang T5 which has a different bolt pattern and input shaft length. I used the master cylinder and slave cylinder from an 85 one ton chevy truck which bolts in perfectly. I also used a mid 80's truck bellhousing which has the bracket for the slave cylinder as a part of the housing. I used an 18 inch length of steel brake tube that I coiled around a coffee can to connect the master to the slave. A Honda Civic Hyd resevoire works perfectly as well. You do need to shorten your driveshaft but that is not a problem. The rear tranny support will work with a little modification. Good Luck, you will love the difference it makes. PM

I don't have the links, but do a search there are several of us who has done the conversion and all have done a litte something different. The bell that you have is it hydraulic or mechanical? The bell size to the blocks are the same but vary in size per the flywheel size being 10.4" or 11". This will also determine which starter you will need.
