Help with coil spark?

While trying to awaken my 72 today, I had difficulty getting it to start. Noticed that the negative wire to the coil was sparking across the connection to the coil wire connection. I have an MSD box, but was wondering if this means my coil is "shot"? The spark is jumping from the coil terminal to the coil "tower", through the plastic covering into the coil itself. Kinda freaky! Any thoughts on this??

Replace the coil, they are not that expensive. Might check your coil wire too if it is old replace it too.
