The guy I bought this 68 from said it had been raced before he got it and the previous owner welded in some frame supports under the doors. Does anyone see anything here?. ??.
It looks like there is extra metal welded under the frame along the frame rail. Those welds aren't factory welds; looks like maybe some extra metal tacked to the bottom.
My frame was perfect except for that area... It looked ok but I went over the whole frame with a small hammer looking for thin spots... the section at the bottom of the kick ups was paper thin.... I cut it out with plasma and welded new frame pieces in.
That frame doesn't look to me like it is rusty enough to need a thick piece welded onto the bottom, and I don't see a lot of pitting, but some close-up pics of the kickup area would give more info. The holes that I can see look well defined and I don't see pieces of scale hanging out anywhere. That piece welded onto the bottom of the frame did block some drain holes though which could be a problem in itself.

I had a buddy with a 75,the previous owner welded twist point supports,told him it was a old school upgrade. There was no rust on his car, no reason not to believe him.....I had never heard of that, but I'm not an expert, old hot rodders did know a thing or two..
That's a '68, no metal floor-boards. Not a rust patch. Looks like they tied the front and rear seat track reinforcements together. Maybe the driver was a little on the hefty side. A poor job at that. But, the frame rail is patched over...suspect rusted section under that plate.
