Here's what I did today.. I got the longer carb studs, installed the plate and hooked everything up. I bolted down the bottle brackets, installed the pressure gauge and the blow off valve.
Then I installed the blow off tube and routed the nitrous line under the carpet to the bottle. I also installed the relais and fuse on the firewall.
Still have to connect and route all the wires.. That should be another 30 minutes of work.
Tomorrow, I'm trying to get a fuel pressure safety switch (that the system shuts off if the fuel pressure drops below 5 psi) and will hook up the electrical system. Will also try to get some brackets to route all the wires nicely.
Here are the pics of the current status:

Oliver, you know I admire your cars and work, the times show it....
But I can't help observe that most of the engnes totally destroyed are sporting nitrous.....one way or another, tschit happens....
best of luck,.....if it wuz ME, I would not do it....
Gene, I will not run nitrous too frequently.. I'll only use it to get into 9's and at the 10.0 index race during the National Corvette Challenge.. After that event, I'll only use the nitrous for strategic purposes (for example if I spin off the line and need to catch up...

I have over 140 runs on my nitrous 454, most with a 250 hit or more. The VAST majority of guys who hurt thier motors when using nitrous hurt the motor due to their own ignorance, laziness or a combination of both.

exactly. i read up on nos for 2 years before i started using it. i threw together a 396 stock bottom end, cast $6.00 ea pistons, junk small oval ports, mild hyd cam, used swapmeet parts. put it in a 79 regal. i had $3500. in the whole car. it ran 11:20's on a 125 shot for 2 years and i never had to change a spark plug. always play it safe go a little on the rich side.
LEAN IS MEAN

Gene I ran nitrous for years, even used a two stage system in the end. I still have it on a 355 mustang. I have also installed it on alot of young guys cars and I have yet to hear of anyone blowing or burning a piston because of it. I always jet conservative for the guys and keep the extra jets so they can not play.
I saw a slow 16 second mustang drop to 13.9's with just the install of a 100 horse system.
You are doing a nice install. I can hardly wait to here you impressions of the stuff. It is very addicting.
I'm doing the install very careful as any mistakes could have serious consequences.
I hope to be done with the install before the weekend.. I'm still waiting on the retard system...

If you run a 100 horse setup for testing you do not need to run a retart system.

In 95% of street motors there is probably no need to pull any timing out when using an out of the box 100 hp tune. That being said, Oliver's motor is nearly 13 to 1 compression. If it were me I would pull 4 degrees out and do a plug check to see how they looked.....then tune from there.
I think that the retard system comes with 3 and 5 degree pills but not 4... I'll start with the 3 degre pill.. My total timing is only 36 degrees, so I'll be running 33 degrees total timing with the spray. I'm also thinking in mixing in some 116 octane with my 112 octane to be safe even though 112 octane should be good enough for a 100 shot..

The 110 should be fine. Probably not the best idea to mix the fuel, it adds another variable.... also the 116 will have a different specific gravity than the 110. 3 degrees should be fine, I would do a plug check after the run.

When are you taking it to the track Oliver ?
I'll take the car to the track on the next cool day that the track is open. We haven't had cooler weather since early December and the forecast is very hot (80's just about every day).. The normal high for this time of the year is 72 and the normal low is 52. We haven't been close to that since Dec. 8th... I'm praying for a cold canadian cold front and some sub 60 degree air... I want to hit 9's with as little juice as possible and colder temps will help..
Looks good! Did you use a kit for the lines to your carb? If so what is the PN?
The carb inlet kit is from Professional Products and the part number is 10400.
Summit or Jegs don't carry that brand. I got it at the local speed shop.
Summit sells a similar one as their brand for $59.99...
You have a long wait. It is green and far too warm here. You need colorado weather. Forget Canada. Buffalo sees alot more snow then we ever do.
If it doesn't get cold here, I'll go to South Carolina to race at Carolina Dragway...
Bradenton opens on Jan. 11th and there's also a Runday Sunday on Jan 14th.. Hopefully it'll be colder by then...
