I finally got my hooker sidemounts installed today. I love these pipes. The "test" cruise with open headers was awesome. The pipes sound great but they are a little quiet with the reverse flow inserts which also look way to restrictive. Which inserts give the most power im not worried about noise i would run them open of i could afford the tickets. I cant wait to burn myself for the first time. :nonod:
I bought a used set of Hooker side pipes. How do your pipes mount? I was surprised to find that the brackets for the pipes don't match bolts under the car. My pipes came with the reverse flow mufflers too. 1.5 inches isn't much of an exhaust pipe diameter is it? I plan on installing the Car Chemistry collector inserts from Jeg's on my car. It will be at least 3 weeks before I've got mine together to give you an idea of the sound and performance. The engine is apart for a cam change and I'm working 10/7. The bills are getting paid but the engine isn't getting back together.
I found that the tabs on the pipes line up with holes in the frame. I made up some bolts with washers on the bach that sit in the holes to hold the pipes on. I think if you welded bolts there it would be your best bet and i will probly do that later. It is all covered up anyway.
I would strongly recommend the JCL spiral baffles over the two Hooker choices. I have been very impressed with them. Check out his site. http://www.spiralturbobaffles.com

JESTER. WHAT YOU NEED ARE T-BOLTS OR SLOT-BOLTS MADE TO FIT INSIDE THE SLOT IN YOUR FRAME. YOU REALLY ONLY NEED THE BACK ONE IF YOU DO IT RIGHT. ALSO NEED A RUBBER WASHER FOR SOME "GIVE" IN THE HEADER STSTEM. YOUR HEADERS MOVE WITH YOUR CARS MOVEMENT. NO GIVE IN THE SYSTEM, SOMETHING WILL BREAK. I HAVE THE T-BOLTS IF YOU NEED THEM. JCL    :chevy
Jester, another vote here for the spiral baffles from JCL. I have had them on for a couple weeks and they sound great and definitely flow better than my old system which was under car exhaust with hi-flow mufflers.

The way i did it worked so I wont really worry about it until i have to take it off again. I did end up only using the back mount and it feels solid. I reused some rubber washers from the old exhaust that i put between the frame and the header mounts. :seeya
