I have what I consider to be very hard steering. The vette has no power steering and it's a bear to turn. I've looked in a manual and picked the front end off the floor, it seemed to turn easily enough then. Any thoughts?
I ran fast (power steering) ratio (2.7 turns lock to lock) with manual steering for 30 years. The standard manual ratio has 3.2 turns lock to lock. I only really thought it was too hard when I went to sticky low profile 17" tires.
I added power steering over the Christmas holiday. The kit had a defective drag link (replaced, although I had to pay shipping) and the lines were not bent correctly.
If the parts had been right (and I wasn't using the 6 quart Corvette oil pan which had to be replaced to provide linkage clearance) it wouldn't have been too tough a job.
