Default Violent speedometer-82CE

Put in a new lower speedometer cable and a new cruise control controller recently. Below 10 mph, speedometer display is violently erratic. Above 10 mph it is rock steady. Any ideas?
TIA,
delpa

i have been working on my 82 speedometer since i bought it .lots of grease works for a while ,but i think the fix is the 90degree adapter that comes off the cruise control down to the lower cable . mid -america corvette has this for about $45.00 its used for cable drive distributers. thats what i am going to try.

Is the cable binding in any way? A bouncing or erractic speedo can sometimes be traced to a fautly cruise tranducer...but this does not sound like your problem.

I would suspect a binding cable.

I would pull it from the tranny and spin it with your fingers, any binding now matter how slight will cause a bouncy speedo. I had to just keep routing and re routing the cable until I found the perfect set up and it spun free and smooth. good luck  lou
