Looking to lighten things up on the back of the motor. I have a 12.5 pound flywheel replacing a 30 pounder. I went today to the machine shop and he had a Center Force DF pressure plate and a Mcleod PP. The CF was heavier. He likes the CF and said it will hold a ton of power but the Mcleod is lighter and holds onto about 700HP More than enough for me. He also said the Hays is lighter. The Center Force is the heaviest. If it is only a pound or two not much difference. 5+ pounds could be a difference. My CF weighs in at 24 pounds. Anyone else weigh the pressure plate?
He also had a Center Force there with the weights cut off. I guess the owner was having problems with it releasing at high rpm, 7500+ rpm.
I assume that you are looking for light weight components for improved racing performance.
Lighter wt. flywheel and clutch usually helps the car hook-up from a dead stop and accelerate faster. They also make the car harder to drive everyday as you slip the clutch more to get the car away from a stop sign.
If you want an even lighter setup and are not concerned about drivability, road racers run an AT flexplate with a 7-9" dia multi-disc clutch that has tremendous holding power. No fun in stop-and-go traffic but the LW setup really has the engine accel. very fast.
