OK.....the flex-a-lite fan works great...lowered temps about 10 degrees (overheating was not an issue nor reason for install) BUT...is a bit too noisy.....SO, my new dual electric 1200 cfm fans will be here tomorrow for a late night install, ready for weekend rubber removal sessions.
These fans have their own shroud, so the stock goes bye bye....but what about the foam sealing kit the prior owner installed along with new radiator?? I am going to venture a guess I can do away with all that mess.??
I will set up with one running on all time, and second on stat, unless someone has results that dictate otherwise.
Ideally, the the foam is to keep the air from going around the rad/core support into the engine compartment. All the air entering the engine compartment should go thru the radiator. Since your fans shouldn't have to be running at cruise speed, you want all the air, so it may be wise to keep the foam.
I would rather keep the foam and not have the fan(s) run all the time.
