I noticed that a few (not all) of my spark plugs come loose after a few days. I tighten them down with a socket and a week later some are not even "hand tight"!
The specifics are this: '69 427/L-36 w/ original cast iron heads. I am using the A/C R-44XLS plug which is supposedly suitable for cast iron or alum. heads. It has a metal "gasket" at the base of the threads and I add a bit of 3-in-1 oil to the threads when I install them (perhaps this aggravates the loosening?).
Have any of you had a similar problem with your plugs coming loose? Am I using the wrong plug? Is this normal?
I would say it's NOT normal. In the past, I too have put the spark plugs in "dry" and never had them back out. The 3-in-1 may be a problem. This last plug change, I decided to "do things right" and used anti-sieze on the threads. I think I'll check them out tomorrow and see if they are holding tight.

Re: Loose Spark Plugs...??? (marky mark)
Marky,
I have the exact same heads and am running the exact same plugs and I installed them dry.
I was installing new plug wires a week ago and noticed that some of my plugs were very loose (I could turn them with my fingers).
Whats up with that??
Dwayne, I'm not sure what to think. I'll just start checking them more frequently. I'm not sure if the small ring that fits on the plug is necessary or not. Perhaps it is inhibiting the plug from "seating" prpoerly?
