Hello everyone:
I hoping someone can help me out. We have a customer with a C1 vette and a 350ci motor. The bolt pattern on the block(for the bell) has 7 bolt holes like an LS block but it is my understanding that if there is a provision for the Z-bar pivot ball in the block, then it is not an LS.
Can anyone confirm or refute this???
We sent him an LS style flywheel and the bolt holes are off by about 1/2 of a bolt hole and I am stumped.
Thanks in advance for any help on this.
Please forgive my ignorance but is there a difference between LS blocks?? My understanding is that ALL LS blocks have 7 bolt holes for the bellhousing mounting and there IS NOT a provision for the z-bar pivot stud. Is this correct? My guy has the 7 bolt holes AND the provision for the ball stub which contradicts my understanding of the LS block.
In 1986 a crankshaft and flywheel change was made. 1986 and newer Chevy engines will not accept older flywheels due to the different crank flange and bolt pattern. Older bellhousings, however, will work on 1986 and newer engines.
