Then he added an aftermarket guage and screwed it into the dash.
Anyway, I now have the center cluster out and wanted to check to see if the factory guage still works. Problem is there isn't a sensor at the end of the wire now. Is there a way I can ground out the back of the guage to see if the needle will move?

you can ground the gauge, but be sure to ground the correct side-one side goes to 12 volts, the other to the sender(which i guess should be called a receiver because it's grounded). if you're not sure which side to ground, run a temporary wire from each side of the gauge(one at a time)to the sender. this will test the sender and gauge. you can't simply use a volt meter on the gauge terminals, because in an open circuit(sender not connected) both sides of the gauge will read 12 volts.
