I am currently installing a new engine wiring harness in a 72 manual 350 with a/c and need some help identifying some wires that I am having a problem with. I purchased the harness from Lectric Limited. The harness and speed of delivery were great but the laminated schematic seems to be missing some things.
1. The harness I purchased has an orange and black wire for the blower motor. The problem is I had a/c and the blower motor is controlled be the a/c wiring harness. If I use the new harness connections will the blower motor work? Will I be able to control it from the console switch?
2. The new harness has a tan wire that is supposed to go to a carb solenoid. I don't have one what does the solenoid do? Can I use this wire for an auto choke or is it useless?
3. I have pink wire and green wire that end at a "L" shaped male connector. These wires come out of the same grommet in the firewall that the tach cable and oil descending unit come from. What are they for?
4. Where can I get wiring schematics that detail what the wires are actually for? What I really need is "Wiring schematics for dummmies"!
Question 2. I believe tan wire should go to the brake warning switch mounted on the frame under the master cylinder.
Question 3. The pink/green wires are for the backup light switch coming from the side of the transmission (same color wires and mating connector).
1. did you get the AC harness? it is seperate from the engine harness and the forward lamp harness.
I didn't purchase the a/c harness. I have removed the majority of the a/c components and stored them. I would like to remove the a/c harness but there lies my problem. The a/c harness controls the blower and I want to control the blower from the engine harness. I was kind of hoping the fuse box was generic enough to allow both harness connections to control the blower since all cars didn't come with a/c. It's a 72 conv, I live in Michigan, so the expense of fixing all the a/c problems bubba left me with is not high on the priority list.

A2vette,
I see you live in Ann Arbor, me too! I have a non A/C 71' Vert and you are welcome to look at the harness on mine to see how the blower is hooked up. PM me if you are interested.
